Fall is here! John tells me all the time that he thinks September is his favorite month of the year. The weather is just right usually, the leaves turn, the garden is almost done (not that we did much in our garden this year anyway!), football starts, it's just a great time of year.
Fall did catch us a little bit by surprise though with clothes for the girls. The temperatures started dropping before we were ready for it and the poor girls were still wearing their dresses and tank tops! We had hesitated on getting warmer clothes to make sure we got the right sizes. Then all the sudden we NEEDED long sleeve clothes for the girls NOW.
On a trip to Costco; which is becoming one of the girls' favorite stores, they had long sleeved outfits for sale. Perfect! After what seemed like an eternity of digging through piles of clothes to find 2 of the same outfits in the same size, they had exactly 4 outfits that got us what we needed. The only problem?
One was a little boys outfit...
John convinced me to get it since it didn't say anything about being a little boy. It has a truck on it and says, "Built Tough Like Daddy." That made me chuckle a little bit {grin}. And yes, it had CAMOUFLAGE long sleeves! But needs are needs...
So what happens when you put precious, dainty, adorable, little girls in boy clothes and let them play outside?
CHAOS ENSUES!
The girls have always enjoyed playing outside, with the exception of their first experience, but this was crazy. They were out of control. They had a new sense of freedom and wanted to crawl every where, get into everything, put anything into their mouths...
Total chaos.
But lots of fun.
They look like lost little orphans!
I had been raking up the leaves while John watched the girls play. Of course we had to get a good leaf picture with Ada and Evie...
We thought it was a good idea. They did not so much...
Trying to eat a rock.
Even though they had their boy clothes on, I still made sure that they had on pink and purple socks. We need at least a little girlieness...
Checking the leaves out on our own.
They navigated their way up and down the flower beds and the porch like experts.
Taking a little rest
Playing with Daddy and his work gloves
Someone in this picture needs a haircut! Can you guess who?
The girls have really been loving playing outside in this wonderful weather. I hope that we can keep this weather up for awhile still. They've been spending over an hour a day outside and can't get enough of it. They've been little explorers and fearless! I'm just a bit relieved they're not walking yet, otherwise that would out of control!
