Food

The girls started eating food over 3 months ago, and it's fair to say that they're not exactly excited about food.  John and I had agreed way before the girls were born that we were going to breast feed the girls exclusively until they were 6 months old.  When we told that to the first doctor that girls saw he looked like he was going to faint!  Well, when we decided to change doctors (numerous reasons) we told the new doctor the same thing.  His response was that's great but we should do it exclusively until they were 6 months adjusted, or in other words 8 months.  So that's what we decided to do!
At first it started great, the girls ate those sweet potatoes up!  Then we tried to throw in some new veggies.
Green beans were a tragic failure.
Peas weren't much better.
Carrots were ok, until they realized that they weren't sweet potatoes.
Even sweet potatoes they just thought we were trying to trick them and give them something they didn't like!
We've been experimenting with different things to try to get the girls excited about foods.
We gave them some raw baby carrots and they loved chewing on those, but it was much more of a toy then actual food.
The other night we steamed some carrots until they were nice and soft and once they cooled down we tried giving those to the girls.

It was pretty much the same result as the raw carrot, just a toy.
We broke up the carrot into little pieces to see if they'd eat that.

Not very successful either.
I suppose we'll just have to keep working on it.  I'm sure what it comes down to is when we feed them.  From the reading and research that we've done, reliable sources like La Leche League recommend giving babies food AFTER nursing until their one.  After their one give them food first then nurse.
Our girls love to nurse and they nurse themselves full.  Of course mushed up peas won't sound appetizing!  I'm not going to worry about it to much for awhile and after their one we'll start focusing on changing their eating times.  Besides, if we want to fatten up our skinny little babies, breast milk is the best since it has so many calories!

The girls love playing with all of their books.

Evie has a way with finding the toughest path to get to where she wanted.  They were "helping" me in the kitchen when Evie decided to crawl through my legs just to turn around and go back the opposite direction.  They feel that everything is their obstacle course!
And yes, that is a yard stick there.  We put it through the handles of the drawers so the girls don't pull them open.  Now they think it's a game to play with the yard stick.
It is kind of a pain in the butt when you're cooking and you have to keep pulling it out and putting it in just to get out a spoon...

On a completely different note, have you ever made bacon in the microwave?  I don't remember ever doing this growing up.  But I LOVE bacon, but I don't like cooking bacon on the stove because it makes the whole house smell like bacon.  John showed me the marvels of making bacon in the microwave (which is funny because he doesn't like bacon) and now I can enjoy a BLT in a matter of minutes without stinking up the house.  AMAZING!

Helping in the cupboard.
